Partha Chatterjee learned vocal music from his mother Smt Rama Chatterjee, who was a regular performer of AIR since the fifties. His father Late Sri Prabir Kumar Chatterjee inspired and taught him to play the sitar. Later on he took him to the sitar maestro Late Pt. Nikhil Banerjee. . After the sudden and premature demise of his Guru in 1986, Partha was affectionately offered a place at the feet of the great exponent of his Gharana Ustad Ali Akbar Khanshahib. Partha performed in Radio, Television and in many major festivals in India and abroad. He was also a participant in the Festival of India in Switzerland. Later he performed and taught on behalf of Indian Council For Cultural Relations in South Asia. As a visiting faculty he was invited to teach at University of California, Santa Cruz in 2001 and at U.C Berkeley in 2007. Nikihilji's divine and soulful music took hold of his mind so much so that focusing on every aspect of it became his life time determination from which he does not want to waver till his last days.
Gifted with an ability to summon crystal-clear melodies from his drums, Anindo Chatterjee has evolved into one of the world's greatest tabla players. An exponent of the Farrukhabad Gharana of Tabla, founded by Haji Vilayat Khan Saheb, Anindoji continues to give new voice to his instrument. In addition to solo performances and recordings, Anindo ji has been one of the closest of the legendary sitarist Pt. Nikhil Banerjee having accompanied the maestro on his concert tours for well over two decades. Anindo ji has been one of the most versatile accompanists of India accompanying sitar players Pandit Nikhil Banerjee, Budhahitya Mukherjee, and Ustad Rais Khan; sarod players Buddhadev Das Gupta and Ali Akbar Kahn; flautist Hariprasad Chaurasia; santoor player Pandit Shivkumar Sharma; and vocalists Pandit Mallikarjun Mansur and Gangubai Hangal. Inspired by his uncle, Pandit Biswanath Chatterjee, Chatterjee began playing tabla at the age of five. He is a disciple of legendary Guru Pandit Jnan Prakesh, with whom he studied for three decades. Anindoji also studed briefly with Ustad Afaq Hussain Khan of the Lucknow Gharana,. Anindo ji is a recipient of many awards and honours and has been honoured with the coveted Sangeet Natak Academy Award in 2002.
Son of the world renowned tabla maestro, Anindo Chatterjee ,Anubrata was nurtured from day one to be a tabla player. At the young age of 23,he has already performed with all the eminent musicians of the country including Ustad Amjad Ali Khan,Ustad Rais Khan,Pt.Shivkumar Sharma,Pt.Hari Prasad Chaurasia,Ustad Shahid Parvez and many more all over the world.Anubrata is one of the most widely traveled musicians of his generation. He has represented Indian Music in some of the most prestigious venues of the world. Anubrata's performance is marked by the "Farukhabad Style" his crisp tonal quality, and the presentation of rare compositions with extreme clarity.
