Partho Sarathy is one of the leading sarod players of his generation. He began his training under his father, who was a disciple of the legendary Pt. Radhika Mohan Moitra. Then, for nearly a decade he took lessons from the late Dnyanesh Khan, son of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. Since 1980, he has been learning from Pt. Ravi Shankar. He is based in Calcutta but is an active performer all over the globe. Some notable venues for his performances have been Dover Lane in Calcutta, the Savai Gandharva festival in Pune, the Music academy festival in Chennai and the Royal Albert hall in London.
