Sandipan Samajpati has received extensive taleem in the Kirana style of gayaki for about two decades from Pandit Manas Chakraborty. In recent times he has also received guidance from Pandit Rama Ashrey Jha of the Gwalior gharana. Since his debut performance at the age of sixteen, Sandipan has, over the years, been performing in a number of prestigious and reputed music conferences throughout India and abroad. He was recently awarded the the Sangeet Natak Akademi Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for the year 2006.
