She is a leading representative of the famed Imdadkhani Gharana,<br /> having imbibed the vigor that is the hallmark of the style: scintillating fast taans,<br /> mastery of the meditative alaap and brilliant fluency of melody (raag bhava), all the<br /> while maintaining her technical virtuosity. The 34-year old Anupama has trained for 21<br /> years under the Imdadkhani doyen, Pt. Bimalendu Mukherjee. Besides having performed in<br /> prestigious venues all over the world, she is the recipient of several awards, among<br /> them: Surmani, by Sur Sringar Sansad,the First Position in the All India Radio Music<br /> Competition (1994), a HRD Scholarship from the Government of India and several grants<br /> from the Ohio Arts Council.
