Sougata Ganguly is an outstanding sarod player from Kolkata. He hails from a family of legendary musicians and started his training at the age of six under the tutelage of his grandfather, Pandit Shyam Kumar Ganguli, a student of Ustad Karmatullah Khan and Baba Allaudin Khan. This gives Sougata knowledge of the styles of two gharanas: the "Lucknow" gharana and the "Maihar Rampur" gharana. Over fourteen years of intense training under his grandfather, Sougata inherited his unique knowledge and developed a deep understanding of both gharanas. His concert promises to provide a unique experience for everyone, especially the music afficionados. He will be accompanied on the tabla by Indranil Mallick, a student of the late Uttam Chakraborty.
