Brij Narayan is the son of the great sarangi player Pt. Ram Narayan, under whom he began his initial training. At age eight, Brij Narayan started learning from Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. At the age of fifteen he won the All India Radio Music Competition and was unanimously named scholar of the Bharatiya Sangeet Sabha. Over the years, he has performed all over the world as well as on radio and TV. He also has a number of released commercial albums to his credit
