A concert of Hindustani Gayaki - Khayal, Thumri and Dadra

Indrani Mukherjee is one of the few vocalists who excel in multiple genres of Hindustani classical music including Khayal, Thumri and Dadra.

She was selected as a resident scholar by the prestigious ITC Sangeet Research Academy,Calcutta, where she trained under the eminent musician Pandit Arun Bhaduri. Later she pursued her training with the late Vidushi Purnima Choudhury a great exponent of the Benaras gharana, for ten years and also took talim for few years with the great musician scholar, the Late Pandit Ramashray Jha Ji of Allahabad. Indrani has made a mark in the field of Hindustani music, especially in her rendering of Khayal,Thumri,Dadra and Bhajan. Indrani has performed extensively in India and in music festivals in Europe,USA,Canada and the Middle East.

Rupak
Kukarni is an outstanding exponent of the Bansuri. He is one of the finest Hindustani flute players in the world today.
 He started his training under his father Malhar Kulkarni and then at the age of just 9, became a ganda-bandh discipline of the legendary Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia. Under his guidance Rupak blossomed into the accomplished flautist of the Maihar Gharana that he is today.

A concert of Dagarvani Dhrupad by

Shri Uday Bhawalkar

Shri Pratap Awad on Pakhawaj

 

Uday Bhawalkar is a brilliant Dhrupad vocalist and belong to one of Dhrupad's oldest and most illustrious musical lineages (Dagar Vani). He received his training from Ustad Zia Fariduddin Dagar and Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar, the renowned Dhrupad masters. Dhrupad is a living and evolving classical music tradition and Uday has developed a unique style deeply embedded in raga rasa and bhaav. This brings a creative melodic addition to the precise intonation and pronunciation characteristic to the Dhrupad style. Uday has an engaging style and is able to reach out and communicate with audiences of all backgrounds. Since his first performance at Bhopal in 1985, Uday has performed in a number of prestigious festivals and events in India and abroad. His workshops have been hosted by Universities in India, Europe and the USA. Uday became an empanelled Guru at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy in Kolkata.. Uday has also received prestigious awards including the Kumar Gandharva Samman given by the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh (2001).

Anand Bhate comes from a family steeped in Hindustani music. His grandfather Bhate Buva, who was a well known vocalist for Thumri and Natya Sangeet. By the age of ten Anand started systematic training with Chandrashekhar Deshpande. Later he trained under Yashwantbua Marathe, who introduced him to the intricacies of Khayal gayaki. Later he became a disciple of late Bhimsen Joshi, with whom he trained for 15 years in Kirana Gayaki.

Snehasish Mozumder is among those few established musicians in India who has mastered the art of playing Mandolin, and has blended it perfectly into the style of Hindustani Indian Classical Music . Coming from a musically oriented family,he started his initial training at the age of four with Tabla and then Mandolin under the guidance of his grand father late Sri Bibhuty Ranjan Mozumder and then he took training under his father Sri Himangshu Mazumder and his uncle late Sri Ranjan Mozumder. He also learned from Sri Tejendra Narayan Majumdar, late Acharya Ajoy Sinha Roy. Finally he came under the tutelage of Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty. Snehasish, has performed in many major festivals in India like Sankat Mochan Utsav of Varanasi Swami Haridas Sangeet Sanmelan of Mumbai, and many others. He is the recipient of Surmani and Jadubhatta Awards.

 

Considered among the front ranking tabla players from India , Abhijit Banerjee is one of the most sought after creative artists in the realm of Indian classical music. Abhijit has accompanied nearly all the top ranking luminaries of Indian classical music including Pt.Ravi Shankar, late Pt.Nikhil Banerjee, Begum Parweena Sultana, Pt.Jasraj, Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma, Dr. Balamurali Krishnan to name a few.

A concert of Hindustani Music by

Alam Khan

Son of the legendary Sarode Maestro Ali Akbar Khan, Alam has been touching the hearts
of audiences worldwide for the past 15 years. Since his initial training into the Maihar
Seni Gharana at the age of seven, Alam was blessed to learn and live in the traditional
style of Guru and student. Ali Akbar Khan's careful crafting and guidance shows in
each note as well as in Alam's imaginative way of expressing the ancient ragas passed
down from the courts of Emperor Akbar by Mian Tansen in the 16th century. Alam's
performance career was introduced to the world when he began accompanying his father
onstage, internationally, from 1996 to 2006. Along with accompanying his esteemed
father, Alam's inner voice began to emerge and grow with his solo career, which began
in 1998. He has toured worldwide and established himself as Ali Akbar Khan's true heir
and the face of a new generation of Sarode players, attracting praise and attention from
musical icons such as Sitar Legend Ravi Shankar, Carlos Santana, Mickey Hart of the
Grateful Dead, Slide Guitarist Derek Trucks, Ustad Vilayat Khan, Pandit Buddhadev
Dasgupta, and many more of India's finest musicians. Basant Bahar is pleased to present

Sanhita Nandi is an outstanding exponent of Kirana gayaki. She excels in Khayal as well as Thumri gayaki. After initial training at Durgapur, Sanhita's resplendent voice and depth of musical acumen brought her early recognition. Later, she was groomed by the Late Pandit A. Kanan at the Sangeet Research Academy, Calcutta and later by Sh: Vinayak Torvi.
Sanhita is rapidly getting the acclaim she deserves as a brilliant performer with intellectual depth. She has been invited to perform at major festivals including the Sawai Ghandarva and the Saptak festivals and is now performing all over the Unites states. Basant Bahar is pleased to present her.

Indrajit Banerjee is an outstanding sitar player. He received training from masters like Pt. Mani Lal Nag, Pt. Kartick Kumar and also Sh: Varun Pal and Niladri Kumar. He plays with exceptional sensitivity and brilliance and has won several awards.
S. Radhakrishna is an exceptional musician, a virtuoso violinist, who has developed a unique style of playing the double violin. Although trained in the Karnatak tradition he has achieved international renown through his collaboration with musicians of the western tradition including Jaaz.
Subrata Bhattacharya is a leading tabla player from the younger generation
Somnath Roy is an outstanding percussionist from Calcutta who was trained in Ghattam by the leading master V. Suresh of Chennai
